Elon Musk Is Personally Paying For These Celebrities Twitter Blue

As everyone knows Twitter Blue has become the new normal on Twitter. Months after Twitter CEO Elon Musk urged users to subscribe to the premium service, Twitter eliminated the traditional blue badge from verified accounts yesterday. Many prominent figures in various fields had their coveted verification badges taken away as a result of this change.

Users who have upgraded to the Twitter subscription model will be identified by a blue badge next to their names and have access to additional premium features. Both basketball star LeBron James and author Stephen King still have their membership badges despite publicly stating that they will not be renewing their memberships. Many celebrities even started to subscribe to Twitter Blue which includes big names like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and more.

Even Jack Dorsey, The founder of Twitter lost his tick. It’s quite ironic and sad that the man who created Twitter doesn’t have any control over it. Is this what we call karma or The power of Elon Musk? As of the latest, Jack Dorsey has not signed up for Twitter Blue.

Is Elon Paying For The Blue Tick For a Few Celebs?

Some celebrities’ subscription fees to keep their verification badge are being paid for by Twitter’s CEO, it was later revealed. In a series of tweets, Stephen King revealed that, contrary to his wishes, his account now displays that he has subscribed and provided a phone number. A folded hands emoji and the words “You’re welcome namaste” were Musk’s responses. As seen below:

Mr. Musk said in a separate tweet, “I’m paying for a few personally.” Later, he tweeted, “Just Shatner, LeBron, and King,” referring to William Shatner, a Star Trek actor who had complained last month about having to pay to keep his blue checkmark.

Indian Celebs Who Lost Twitter Blue

Among those who had their credentials revoked were ex-President Donald Trump, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and reality TV star Kim Kardashian. Several other well-known Indian celebrities have also lost the verified blue tick on Twitter, including mega star Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, and the politicians Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, as well as the cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

In 2009, the company introduced a blue check mark system to let users know which celebrities, politicians, companies, brands, news organizations, and other accounts “of public interest” were real and which were fake or parody accounts. Verification services were free of charge in the past at this company.
